Microsoft To Upgrade All Lumia Devices To Windows 10 OS Next Year

Microsoft announced its 'Windows 10' operating system to replace the largely unpopular Windows 8, skipping a number to mark a leap toward unifying the way people work on tablets, phones and traditional computers.

The next version of Microsoft's flagship product, which still runs the vast majority of personal computers and is used by 1.5 billion customers worldwide, is aimed at recapturing the lucrative business market, which generally ignored the new-look Windows 8.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 India Expected To Launch at Company's Event On October 14

Samsung has sent out invites for the launch of the "The Next Galaxy" on October 14, and the South Korean company can be safely expected to launch the Galaxy Note 4 in India on that date.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was unveiled by the company at its pre-IFA 2014 event in September, and it comes with the new S Pen stylus with improved pressure sensitivity, as well as the new Smart Select feature, apart from the new calligraphy and signing pen writing options.
The Galaxy Note 4 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, and features a 5.7-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixel) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 515ppi. It weighs in at 176 grams, and is 8.5mm-thick.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 was announced in 4G LTE and 4G LTE Cat.6 (LTE Advanced) variants, depending on the region. The processor will be either a 2.7GHz quad-core processor, or a 1.9GHz octa-core (1.9GHz quad-core + 1.3GHz quad-Core) processor - which is the variant more likely to be launched in India. Both feature 3GB of  RAM.

Google Play Store 5.0 now rolling out with Material Design

Google has begun rolling out version 5.0.31 of the Play Store that includes a visual overhaul with Material Design and some new layouts. The update leaked out a few weeks back and marked a significant, but welcome, change in the Google Play Store. It’s also an indicator that the launch of Android L is growing closer, as more and more apps continue to get updated to support the new Material Design standard.

The Google Play Store now entirely follows Material Design with smooth animations, revised colors and larger, cleaner visuals. The icon has also been redone with a new design featuring shadows and the depth that we’ve come to know with Material Design. In terms of layout changes, the What’s New section has moved back up to the top of the description box and is highlighted in green. Aside from that, most things are the same aside from a refreshed design.

HTC One M8 VS Sony Xperia Z3

The HTC One M8 is one of the year’s most popular smartphones out there, right next to the Sony Xperia Z3. While the HTC One M8 is renowned for its durable and appealing design as well as BoomSound front-facing speakers, the Sony Xperia Z3 boasts a high quality battery which can last two days. As usual, each of the flagships has its pros and cons and it’s up to you to weight these differences.
The Sony Xperia Z3 has been in the news lately because it beat every other competitor in a battery stress test, including the new iPhone 6, Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and Samsung Galaxy S5. It even beat the HTC One M8, so if you’re set on the device with the longest battery life, look no further.
The Xperia Z3 might be the best in terms of battery life in its category, but the HTC One M8 has its own quirks. The HTC One M8 is built from an aluminium alloy that offers awesome durability and a much-appreciated metallic texture. The Sony Xperia Z3 has a more conservative design which doesn’t stray too much from the Z2 except for having a little more rounded edges, a little less bezel and being a bit lighter. The HTC One M8 has a curved body which is designed to fit in your hand better, whilst the Xperia Z3 sports a flat, glossy design.
One of thealf an hour immersed in water, so if you’re not a pool-goer or off-road driver, it should be a negligible setback for the HTC One M8. Both smartphones run on Android 4.4.4 with the One M8 sporting HTC’s own Sense 6 UI overlaid and the Xperia Z3 overlaid with a few Sony tweaks. The HTC One M8 also has a Windows 8.1 version available, which is an advantage.

Apple sold 10 million iPhones 6 & iPhones 6 plus in opening weekend

Apple has announced it has sold over 10 million new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models, just three days after the launch on September 19.

Last year, Apple had sold 9 million iPhone 5S and 5C phones during the launch weekend. In 2012, the Cupertino giant had sold 5 million iPhone 5 units in the first three days of launch but the figures also included China. It is worth pointing out that this year's sales numbers do not include China as the phones are still not available in the region.

Just like last year, Apple has not disclosed individual sales figures for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Apple had also announced that pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones touched 4 million within 24 hours.

Samsung Gear S Smartwatch will launch worldwide

The Gear S is the fourth smartwatch in Samsung’s lineup, but it’s rather different than its predecessors with its curved display and inbuilt cellular connectivity. It also has a high price tag of Euro 299, which has made quite a few folks wonder if Samsung will launch it worldwide or keep it limited to a few regions. Well, it turns out Samsung will be taking the former route and launching in almost every region, according to a list of firmware codes we’ve received. The high price might deter most folks from going for the Gear S over the Gear 2 (or the Android Wear-powered Gear Live), but it’s good to see that won’t be keeping Samsung from making it available worldwide.

Android 4.4.4 update rolled out to Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo (GT-I9300I)

In a rather strange move, Samsung has pushed out the Android 4.4.4 update to the Galaxy S3 Neo before any other device in its lineup, before even the flagships like the Galaxy S5. The update is currently rolling out to the device in Kazakhstan with build number I9300IXXUBNH3; it should be available as an over-the-air download as well as through Kies, though advanced users can also grab the firmware from our firmware section to update manually. As for the changelog, we’re guessing there is nothing major to speak of, and the update should mostly include bug and security fixes that are a part and parcel of Android 4.4.4.

As always, keep in mind that the update will gradually roll out to more regions in the coming weeks. We’ll be sure to let you know when Samsung rolls out the update to other devices, and we will continue hoping that Samsung completes the Android 4.4.4 rollout for eligible devices well in time before Android L comes knocking.

Apple iPhone 6 Will Finally Be Revealed Next Week

The time has come, techies. One of this year's biggest announcements in the tech world is officially going to be made on September 9, when Apple unveils its iPhone 6 to the public. Press invites have been sent out for the date with a brief statement — in Apple's signature, pre-launch, very vague fashion — saying, "Wish we could say more." If the Cupertino company follows the standard launch cycle, that puts the smartphone in the hands of the public for purchase within 10 days of launch. So, start prepping your wallet and circle September 19 on your calendar.
Apple set its launch date just a week after Samsung announced its new smartphone, the Galaxy Note 4, on September 3, at a conference held in Berlin. Both companies have supersized their products with bigger screens, specs and features, as phablets start taking over the smartphone industry.
While Samsung's approach was small — primarily key updates and fixes from their previous Note 3 — Apple will completely overhaul the iPhone in design and in software, with the new iOS 8 more than likely pre-loaded onto the phone. There are also rumors that more than one iPhone will be revealed; a 4.7-inch smartphone and a 5.5-inch phablet, possibly dubbed the iPhone 6L or iPhone Air. While both versions are expected to launch at the same time, there may be production delays that cause the larger phone to come out later than September.

Samsung’s upcoming A series phones (SM-A500) passes Bluetooth certification

SamMobile recently revealed that Samsung is working on a new A series of smartphones following the launch of the Galaxy Alpha. Out of the three new phones that are under development, the SM-A500 is already listed on Samsung’s mobile website, and it looks like the phone could be the first to be officially announced as well, as the device was recently certified by Bluetooth SIG. The Bluetooth certification also suggests the phone will come with dual SIM slots, though that’s about all that can be gleaned from the SM-A500′s listing.
According to our sources, the SM-A500 will come with an HD display and a front camera with a higher resolution than existing Samsung devices. Its design will be similar to the Galaxy Alpha, and a launch is expected sometime in the next month or so, possibly with an announcement soon after the Galaxy Note 4 gets unveiled.

Samsung announces Nike+ Running app for Gear S

Samsung and Nike have partnered to bring the Nike+ Running app for the Gear S smartwatch which was announced yesterday. The app uses wireless 3G connection and GPS, which is inbuilt in to the Gear S, to track a user’s progress, display real-time statistics, and map their runs without a need for a companion smartphone. The app also tracks important things like distance, speed and also comes with an ability to share this information with friends through social networks. The Nike+ Running app would come pre-loaded with the Gear S along with motivational features such as Nike+ challenges, live audio feedback and a built-in music player.

The Tizen powered Gear S smartwatch comes with a 2-inch Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage and can last up to 2 days with its 300mAh battery. The smartwatch with IP67 certification for dust and water resistance also comes with inbuilt wireless connectivity options such as 3G and GPS.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 goes on sale at an Indian retailer

Samsung is back with a new device to add to its galactically large lineup of smartphones. Over in India, the Galaxy S Duos 3 has made an unofficial appearance, with a Mumbai-based retailer already having stock of the device. The same retailer leaked the existence of the Galaxy Ace NXT before its announcement – oddly, both devices share a common model number, which suggests Samsung is trying to sell the same device under different names, something that might be a new way for the company to extend its smartphone lineup. The Galaxy S Duos 3 sports very average specs thanks to its low-end nature, though they’re surprisingly better than what we’ve seen on other Samsung devices in its price range. It has a 4-inch WVGA (800×480) display, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front camera, 4GB of internal storage and a microSD slot, dual SIM slots, and a 1,500 mAh battery. The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and is expected to be priced at around INR 8,590 (or $141.)
